CloudGate Studio is developing a way to use the new Vive Trackers and existing controllers to enable full-body tracking. A video posted by the company shows how the controllers could be used to bring someone's entire body (not just their hands and head) into the VR world.
Steve Bowler, president of CloudGate Studio, held two controllers and strapped another two to his feet. He was then able to construct "a pretty good facsimile of a human body" in a VR demo.
As the video demonstrates, this setup allowed for largely accurate tracking of his arms and legs. More in-depth tracking could be achieved by attaching the upcoming Vive Trackers to a user's torso.
