Google will stop showing search result suggestions as you type. The search engine's well-known Instant Search feature launched in 2010, but it's become less and less relevant as more people have moved to mobile. On mobile devices, displaying Instant Search results doesn't lead to the best user experience and it doesn't appear to be a highly utilized feature.
When the feature originally launched on the search engine, Google believed it would help people collectively receive results much faster.
We launched Google Instant back in 2010 with the goal to provide users with the information they need as quickly as possible, even as they typed their searches on desktop devices. Since then, many more of our searches happen on mobile, with very different input and interaction and screen constraints. With this in mind, we have decided to remove Google Instant, so we can focus on ways to make Search even faster and more fluid on all devices.- Google
Moving forward, a regular drop-down that doesn't render in real time will display auto-complete suggestions.
