Tesla Updates Privacy Policy So That It Can Collect Videos From Cars

An update to Tesla's Autopilot system includes a new data policy that enables the collection of external vehicle camera videos. Tesla wants to have access to video clips in order to improve its autonomous vehicle technology.
With the external footage, it'll be easier to see how Tesla's systems are recognizing visual cues like lanes and signs.
None of the videos are tied to a vehicle's identification number, so even if someone were to breach Tesla's security, the videos couldn't be connected to individual cars.
This update also brings some of Autopilot's older capabilities to newer (post-October 2016) vehicles, including Autosteer up to 90 mph on highways and 45 mph on signless off-highway roads.
