Apple may update Airpods this year

When Apple introduced the Airpods, the company, of course, wanted to start a fad. However, many had criticised the company’s device, saying it doesn’t really do well where it's needed. However, Bloomberg reports that Apple is going to update the Airpods this year, adding a wireless chip to the device. This will let the Airpods wirelessly activate Siri, bringing them up to speed with Google’s Pixel Buds, announced last year.
Apple's new Airpods will let users call Apple’s Siri digital assistant without physically tapping the headphones by saying "Hey Siri.
According to Bloomberg, the model which is expected to be launched as early as this year will let users call Apple’s Siri digital assistant without physically tapping the headphones by saying "Hey Siri.
The report also says that the Airpods will be water-resistant from 2019 onwards. That’s actually a pretty fast update, given that headphones do not usually get updated very fast, unlike smartphones. However, neither the Airpods nor the Pixel Buds are very good or dependable devices. So, both Google and Apple have some work to do.
The first generation Airpods did come with Bluetooth support and Apple’s W1 chip. That allows the Airpods to work with iPhones easily. If you ask us, what would help is if Apple allows the Airpods to work with devices other than iPhones, though that’s likely not going to happen in the foreseeable future.
