Xiaomi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft, collaborating with the company for artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and laptop-like devices. The companies will be collaborating with personal assistants in their current devices, which means that Cortana might be making an appearance on Xiaomi’s smartphones soon.
With the partnership, Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform will be used for augmenting Xiaomi’s bandwidth, data storage capabilities and other services that need cloud support.

Apparently, Xiaomi and Microsoft also plan to put Cortana on the Mi-Ai speaker that is expected soon. The companies will be working together for speech, computer vision, natural language processing, conversational AI, text input, knowledge graph, and search.
In addition, Microsoft’s products, like Edge, Bing, Xiaolin, Cortana, SwiftKey, Pix, Translator, Cognitive Services and Skype will also play a role in Xiaomi’s future products. The partnership between the two companies first started in 2015, and Xiaomi acquired 1500 patents from the company the next year. The MoU signed now seems to be a step forward in this journey.
