Toyota will test its autonomous vehicle technology at the momentum Station in Walnut Creek, California, one of ten proving ground facilities designated by the US Department of Transportation. momentum covers 5,000 acres and Toyota Research Institute will utilize it to test its Guardian and Chauffeur systems.
Guardian provides some automated safety features, while Chauffeur offers complete autonomy.
GoMentum is able to simulate actual driving conditions with its inclusion of infrastructure and it can be used to replicate difficult driving conditions before autonomous vehicle tech is tested on public roads.
