Microsoft wasn't able to report particularly high Xbox One sales during fiscal Q1 2018, but it partly made up for that lack of revenue with Game Pass, a subscription service for video games. Revenue from gaming software and services grew 21% and was "driven by continued momentum in digital distribution and strong game title performance."
The gaming division as a whole was able to report 1% growth year-over-year. Its relative lack of console sales could partly be due to the upcoming release of the Xbox One X, which consumers could be waiting for.
During the quarter, Xbox Live's monthly user count also jumped to 53 million (+13%).
