Google Offers Software Update, Extended Warranty Due To Pixel 2 XL Issues

Google has responded to at least some of the issues reported to exist with its Pixel 2 smartphone, namely flawed color representation and burn-in with the Pixel 2 XL. In response to those issues the company is coming out with a software update and it's extending the warranty on all Pixel 2 devices. Consumers will receive a full two-year warranty.
According to Google's VP of product management Mario Queiroz, the Pixel 2 XL doesn't have a unique burn-in issue. An investigation determined the handset is "in line with other premium smartphones and [it shouldn't] affect the normal, day-to-day user experience."
Speaking about the color representation issue, Queiroz said there isn't a display problem, but rather Google simply opted for a different appearance than some other smartphone companies. Because users may prefer a different look, an update is coming "in the next few weeks."
