McAfee No Longer Lets Foreign Governments Review Its Source Code

McAfee halted its practice of allowing foreign governments to review its antivirus source code earlier this year, the company has confirmed to Reuters. Governments, such as Russia's, ask for access to source code with the claim that they're checking for backdoors.
Security experts believe sharing code in this way can be risky and it could raise the chance of vulnerabilities appearing in products.
McAfee made the decision to no longer hand over its source code in April following its split from Intel. This was a precautionary measure, as the company doesn't have evidence of harm caused by reviews in the past.
