Support for GameCube controllers has been added to the Nintendo Switch, enabling players to pick up their old controllers for use with the newer system. This support is included with firmware 4.0.0, which was mainly highlighted by its addition of USB headphone support and other features.
You can only take advantage of this ability if you also have the GameCube controller USB adapter Nintendo released for use with Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U. If you have both, your Switch will pick up on your GameCube controller as a USB pad in the controller's menu.
