Apple May Fully Depart Touch ID With 2018 iPhones

Face ID could entirely replace Touch ID on next year's iPhones, according to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The analyst's latest investors note indicates Apple is likely to move solely to facial recognition for its mobile biometric security. Face ID will debut on the iPhone X when it arrives next month.
Apple is said to be encountering iPhone X supply issues because of its TrueDepth camera technology, which enables Face ID. By next year, the company will presumably have a more reliable and secure supply.
If Kuo is accurate, the iPhone 8 generation will be the last set of iPhones to come with fingerprint recognition.
We believe this change will allow all new models to realize a competitive advantage via differentiation, on the back of an integrated user experience of full-screen design and TrueDepth Camera/Facial recognition/Face ID/AR applications,- Kuo
