Facebook, Twitter Deleted Data Relevant To Russian Ad Investigations

Data pertaining to Russia-linked ads on Facebook and Twitter has been deleted. Facebook says a "bug" was the only reason the data was accessible in the first place, while Twitter says its data was deleted because it has a policy of deleting user data once an account is gone.
According to The Washington Post, all of the ad data on Facebook was removed shortly after researcher Jonathan Albright alleged the Russian influence campaign reached upwards of 20 million people, contradicting Facebook's claim that it reached 10 million. Facebook said Albright was accidentally able to access more data than intended due to a "bug." When it corrected that bug, thousands of posts became inaccessible to researchers.
