T-Mobile and Sprint aren't just lightly discussing a merger, they may actually be close to an agreement, reports Reuters. A merger of those carriers has been in discussion for years, but with the introduction of the Trump administration to the equation, it's become a more plausible scenario.
If they were to join forces, the combined carrier would be a much stronger competitor towards Verizon and AT&T, though it'd still be the smallest of the three.
Reuters sources indicate they're "close to agreeing [to] tentative terms on a deal." Another report from CNBC says they've had "frequent conversations," yet "negotiators are still weeks away from finalizing a deal."
John Legere, CEO of T-Mobile, would reportedly become the CEO of the combined company.
