Intel has revised its mixed/augmented reality plans and is no longer going to release a reference version of its Project Alloy headset, says Road to VR. Because there wasn't much interest in the headset design from hardware partners, Intel decided over the summer to abandon it.
The company was planning to turn the Project Alloy design into retail products by the end of this year. Yet it needed partner support to make that plan materialize.
Intel is still going to invest in augmented reality and virtual reality technologies.
