Uber Ends Required Post-Trip Tracking

Uber is no longer going to track users for up to five minutes after their ride ends. The ridehailing service has been able to track users beyond the duration of their ride, leading to widespread criticism. Users will be allowed to limit their location sharing to the time they're using the app.
This change may be rolling out this week to iOS users.
Updates of this sort, which could improve Uber's image, come as the company is welcoming a new CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi. He's filling the spot left by Travis Kalanick, a relatively controversial figure in Uber's history. Khosrowshahi's entrance isn't connected to the location-tracking update.
