A new US factory is being established by LG in Michigan and it'll be used to produce components for electric vehicles. The company announced on Tuesday that it would be opening a new facility in Hazel Park, a Detroit suburb. It's a 250,000 square foot manufacturing facility.
The project is supported by $25 million from LG and a $2.9 million grant from Michigan over the coming four years. It's going to create around 300 jobs.
LG reported $1.5 billion in revenue from its EV components business during the first half of the year, making it a significant part of the company. LG offers lithium-ion cells, battery heaters, electric drive motors, infotainment systems, and other components.
