YouTube, Warner Extend Music Streaming Deal

Warner has extended its music licensing agreement with YouTube despite its discontent with the way piracy is handled by the platform. This extended licensing deal ensures copyright holders get paid for legal streams.
Steve Cooper, CEO of Warner Music Group, said in a memo that the deal is "shorter than usual" which gives the company "more options in the future." Clearly Warner would like YouTube to tackle unauthorized music uploads in a stricter way.
YouTube says it was "pleased" with this deal and continued to note the $1+ billion it's paid to labels. This deals helps expand YouTube Red, which comes with YouTube Music.
