Yandex, a large internet company in Russia, is entering the autonomous vehicle game. It has revealed a self-driving car that'll form the basis of its upcoming "Yandex.Taxi" service. The prototype vehicle is a modified Toyota Prius V.
Like other autonomous test vehicles, the modified car comes with AI, sensors, and "proprietary computing algorithms."
It's only operating in enclosed areas right now, but Yandex plans to begin testing its autonomous vehicle technology next year.
Yandex joins Waymo and quite a few other internet companies in entering the self-driving car space. It's also not the only one planning to use the tech for a taxi service.
