Germany Received 85% Of Energy From Renewables In Late April

Germany broke a local record during the last weekend of April by getting 85% of its electricity from renewable energy sources. That electricity came from wind, solar, biomass, and hydroelectric. Germany's coal-based power stations basically stopped working and output from nuclear stations was reduced.
It received more power than usual from renewable sources due to strong winds and sunny weather.
Although Germany often has a significant portion of its energy coming from renewables, that performance was still unusual for the country. In March, closer to 40% of its electricity was from renewables.
