Facebook is increasing its focus on news on mobile devices with an update to the Trending Topics section. The network previously hid trending topics within the search area. Now you'll see them directly in your news feed. By default, users will see the top three topics and they can click through to see more.
Since a large portion of Facebook's users primarily use the service on mobile devices, this change will give news content a lot more exposure.
Facebook is also updating the way news content looks when clicked on. You'll now see a carousel with different sources when you click on a trending topic. Previously you'd have to scroll past a live video section to see other content on a given topic.
The trending topic carousel is first reaching iOS. It'll hit Android and desktop shortly.
