EU Approves Plan That'd Force Facebook, YouTube To Remove Hate Speech

A proposal to force companies like Facebook and YouTube to get rid of hate speech has been approved by the European Union. Before the rules are actually implemented, they must still be approved by the European Parliament.
If the regulations are implemented, social media companies could be forced to block certain pieces of content, such as videos that promote terrorism or hatred.
The same rules also cover an entirely different topic, European representation in video content. The EU's rules would require streaming services have a catalog made up of at least 30% European shows and films.
