Apple is acquiring a popular sleep tracking system for iOS devices called "Beddit." It offers iOS and Apple Watch apps, and it also sells sleep tracking hardware, such as the 3 Sleep Monitor. That device goes underneath a bed sheet for superior tracking than what's offered by a tracking on a phone.
Sleep tracking has been a widely requested Apple Watch feature. This acquisition suggests Apple is interested in the functionality and could be planning to add it to the wearable.
Beddit updated its website and app to reflect the acquisition.
