Internet Archive Backs Up 200 TB Of Government Data

To make sure the Trump administration doesn't try to hide public documents, the Internet Archive is building a massive database of files from various government websites. Since fall 2016, the organization has saved over 200 TB of data.
According to the Internet Archive, it wants to hold on to as much as possible so that the public doesn't lose access to data during presidential transitions.
Included in the organization's latest database are 40 million PDFs and 70 million HTML pages.
Although people have been worried about the Trump administration deleting important documents, this initiative didn't begin with Trump.
The End of Term Web Archive began in 2008 to prevent the loss of documents during any presidential administration transition. It's a collaboration between the Internet Archive and other institutions, including some universities and the Library of Congress.
