Restaurant deliveries are no longer going to be accepted by UberRush, a fast delivery service that was introduced by Uber a couple years ago. The company is trying to direct people to UberEats if they're looking to get food delivered.
Uber is reducing the scope of its Rush service because the food deliveries were getting in the way of normal Uber operations, according to employees who spoke with Quartz.
We got into a situation where dinner rush would mean a lot of people were taking food deliveries, but then they weren't driving for UberX, so it was causing surge pricing. We were attacking our own business.- Former employee
Uber will get rid of restaurant clients in Rush beginning May 8.
