A competitor to Chrome OS will be introduced by Microsoft next month, reports ZDNet. The new Windows 10 Cloud edition first showed up in testing for the Windows 10 Creators Update. It appears to be a "simplified version of Windows 10" that can only run Unified Windows Platform (UWP) apps from the Windows Store.
The operating system will be restricted in a similar way to Chrome OS, with users unable to download and install apps from across the web.
Microsoft may be planning to reveal a Surface-branded Windows 10 Cloud device during its upcoming May event.
