Lyft Rises On The App Store During #DeleteUber Campaign

Lyft has become one of the top 10 apps on the Apple App Store in connection with the Delete Uber campaign. The campaign began on social media over the weekend. People became angry at the company when it decided not to participate in a taxi strike at JFK Airport.
The strike was organized by the Taxi Workers Alliance in response to Trump's executive order on immigration.
Uber didn't participate in the strike. Rather, it notified users that surge pricing was off in the area. This was seen as Uber not showing solidarity with protesters and as an attempt to capitalize on the lack of taxis.
In its defense, Uber said it sent out the notification so that people knew service would occur at normal rates despite the protesting. When viewing its action in this way, Uber was actually trying to avoid taking advantage of the situation.
Regardless, people continue to advocate a boycott of Uber. Since Lyft is the service's main competitor, its rise has been reflected in App Store rankings.

A lot of people said they would use Lyft to fight Uber.
