Google Ends Trial Of Hands Free Payment App

Google's experimental Hands Free app is shutting down. The app was released for iOS and Android in March 2016, enabling people to make payments by saying "I'll pay with Google" to a cashier. Hands Free will no longer be available on February 8.
The experiment might be ending, but Google says it'll "bring the best of the Hands Free technology to even more people and stores."
Hands Free still required the involvement of cashiers, something Google would like to get rid of. One of its goals was to eventually create a payment system that uses facial recognition and is fully computer-controlled.
