Apple Falls To Fifth In Chinese Smartphone Market

Apple dropped to fifth place in the Chinese smartphone market during Q4 2016, with local competitor Xiaomi taking over the fourth position. Canalys reports there were 131.6 million total smartphone shipments during the quarter, coming out to a third of global shipments.
That's the best quarter for smartphone sales China has ever seen.
During the quarter, Apple had 43.8 million units (-18.2%). Xiaomi also experienced a year-over-year drop, but it was able to grab the fourth spot.
All of the other top companies, Huawei, Oppo, and Vivo, experienced growth during the quarter.
