US DOT Forms New Automation Committee

The US Department of Transportation has established an automation committee that'll specifically deal with matters like autonomous vehicles and drones. Industry experts, politicians, and researchers are included among the committee's members. Among the companies represented are Alphabet, Delphi, Lyft, Uber, and Apple.
Its first meeting is scheduled for January 16. Anthony Foxx, the outgoing US Transportation Secretary, says the committee will help support technological advances.
The existence of the committee fits with the kind of policy proposed by incoming Secretary Elaine Chao, who believes there should be close communication between the public and private sectors.
