Google has picked up a Swedish company called Limes Audio whose technology will help improve Hangouts' voice quality. A post about the acquisition confirmed Google intends to improve its audio quality, especially as more businesses are beginning to use its video conferencing products.
As more and more businesses adopt our video conferencing solutions, powered by Chromebox for Meetings and Google Hangouts, it's critical that we provide a great audio experience. With G Suite customers now relying on video communications for their day-to-day meetings, it's more important than ever to ensure low-cost, high-quality audio.- Serge Lachapelle, Google
Limes Audio's team will join Google as part of the acquisition. It'll continue "to work towards all voice conversations sounding equally loud and clear, regardless of the distance or environment."
The company is based in Umea, Sweden and also has offices in Stockholm and Palo Alto.
