Foxconn is considering a $7 billion investment that would see the company build a display factory in the US. Nikkei and The Wall Street Journal say Foxconn chairman Terry Gou discussed the company's plans during an event this weekend.
Gou speculated the facility could create between 30,000 and 50,000 jobs.
The Chinese manufacturing giant has been considering the factory since 2014. Gou says that if Foxconn were to make the investment soon, it would need incentives from the US government. The new Trump administration may be more likely to provide those incentives.
Apple would benefit from the factory and is reportedly open to investing in it.
Apple is willing to invest in the facility together because they need the [panels] as well,- Gou
It was recently reported by Bloomberg that this factory would involve Foxconn's Sharp, which it acquired last year.
