Super Mario Run Sees Millions Of First-Day Downloads

Millions of people downloaded Nintendo's Super Mario Run side-scroller on its first day of availability on iOS. The exact numbers vary depending on who you ask. App Annie reports 10 million downloads, while Apptopia reports 2.85 million. App Annie says there were 3.5 million downloads just in the US.
Super Mario Run quickly reached the #1 spot in "overall," "games," and "arcade" within hours of its release. Its initial downloads and performance on the charts have been similar to or superior to Pokemon Go. Though, it also launched in more countries.
The game was heavily promoted prior to its release and Apple has promoted it as well. It's free to try, but the whole game comes with a one-time $10 price tag. Depending on the source, the game made $4 million to $10+ million during its first day.
