Qualcomm Fined $850M In South Korea

South Korean regulators have hit Qualcomm, which is based in the US, with an $850 million antitrust fine. The fine stems from its patent royalty practices in the Asian country. Regulators completed a 3-year investigation and concluded Qualcomm should have shared more of its patents.
Another problem is that Qualcomm required phone makers to license a large number of patents, some of which they didn't even need.
Qualcomm is expected to pay the fine, but it will also appeal the ruling and attempt to get its money back.
Licensing deals are responsible for 32.8% of the company's revenue.
