Apple Giving App Developers More Time To Switch To HTTPS

iOS app developers won't have to implement HTTPS by January 1. Apple planned to require App Transport Security by the end of this year, but it has gotten rid of that deadline. No new deadline has been announced, but one will be confirmed.
The feature, which has existed in iOS since 2015, increases app security by forcing an HTTPS connection. Apple said during WWDC 2016 that all apps would need to use it by the start of 2017.
App Transport Security (ATS), introduced in iOS 9 and OS X v10.11, improves user security and privacy by requiring apps to use secure network connections over HTTPS. At WWDC 2016 we announced that apps submitted to the App Store will be required to support ATS at the end of the year. To give you additional time to prepare, this deadline has been extended and we will provide another update when a new deadline is confirmed.- Apple
