Xiaomi unveils the Mi 8 smartphone

Xiaomi yesterday announced its next flagship smartphone. The device, known as the Xiaomi Mi 8, will take its place alongside the Mi Mix series, at the helm of the company’s portfolio.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 has a 6.21 inch OLED display and a 20-megapixel front camera. The phone runs on the Snapdragon 845 chipset and has two 12 megapixel dual-cameras on the back. It apparently scores 105 on DxOMark’s rankings.
According to Xiaomi, this is the first smartphone to use a dual-frequency GPS, which the company claims will give you more accurate location data. The company is yet to unveil the pricing for the device, though you could expect a low price, given Xiaomi’s history.
The Mi 8 will obviously be sold in China, but Xiaomi may take it to India too, which is its biggest market after its home country. There’s also a smaller variant to the device this time, called the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, which has a 5.88-inch display and runs on the Snapdragon 710 chipset from Qualcomm.
Both the phones have 18:9 displays, so they should be relatively compact, despite the screen sizes.
