AMD announced Monday unprecedented adoption of its AMD Ryzen PRO processors. Celebrating its success for a global event, the company confirmed it has partnered with the world’s three largest PC original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) on new product launches.
AMD Ryzen PRO APUs for premium commercial desktop and notebooks provide new levels of choice and innovation and enable Dell, HP, and Lenovo to create a range of business systems, from sleek enterprise notebooks to powerful commercial desktops, the chipmaker said in an advisory. "Combined, these systems make up the broadest portfolio of AMD processor-based enterprise PCs in the company’s history," AMD noted.
“Our mission with AMD Ryzen processors is to deliver more performance, features, and choice to users. ... Now, we bring those same principles to a full range of commercial notebooks and desktops,” said Jim Anderson, SVP, Computing, and Graphics Business Group, AMD. “The new enterprise platforms introduced by Dell, HP and Lenovo mark an important milestone for AMD".
Claiming Ryzen PRO mobile processors can enable all-day battery life up to 16 hours of use based on Radeon technology, Anderson said, ”AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 2700U offers more system performance than the competition and up to 16 hours of battery life to enable all-day productivity."
Designed specifically for the commercial market, the processors come armed with AMD GuardMI technology and provide security, reliability and performance, thanks to its “Zen” architecture, the US chipmaker said. The new parts are split, into laptop and desktop variants as shown below:
Laptop: Ryzen 7 Pro 2700U 4c8t at 3.8GHz peak clock with Radeon Vega 10 graphics, Ryzen 5 Pro 2500U 4c8t at 3.6GHz peak clock with Radeon Vega 8 graphics, and the Ryzen 3 Pro 2300U 4c4t at 3.4GHz peak clock with Radeon Vega 6 graphics. Desktop: Ryzen 5 Pro 2400G quad-core eight-thread (4c8t) running at 3.9GHz peak clock the 4c4t Ryzen 3 Pro 2200G running at 3.7GHz peak clock and lower-power E-suffixed versions of both.

During a global event held last week, the three PC giants confirmed they introduced Ryzen PRO processors. Two American PC makers Dell and HP along with Chinese tech major Lenovo unveiled a breadth of commercial platform offerings including enterprise notebooks and desktops, compact enterprise micro towers and small form factor desktops, all powered by Ryzen PRO processors with Radeon Vega Graphics.
“We’re proud to introduce our first Ryzen PRO based Latitude 5495 laptop. The Latitude 5495 complements the OptiPlex 5055 desktop PC,” said Dell's Andy Rhodes, GM, Commercial Mobility Solutions.
Meanwhile, the Santa Clara, California-based graphics card maker has confirmed that desktops and laptops featuring the new chips will hit the market soon.
