A 4K version of Google’s Chromebooks may be coming to market soon. According to reports, the Chromium OS source code was updated with a reference to some machine codenamed “Atlas”, which has 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution. The information was first seen on XDA Developers. A file called boards.yaml holds the mention of the mystery 4K Chromebook that is expected.
The code discovered via Redditor -nbsp- as part of a YAML file only gave a screen size and the words 'sdcard: False. Further, the code also made a reference to the tech giant's 4K version of the Pixelbook.

It seems the 4K Chromebook in question also doesn’t have an SD card slot, just like Google’s Pixelbook laptop. It’s unclear what the other specifications of the device will be, but a 4K screen should ideally need a pretty powerful processor. On the other hand, the 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution will mean that the laptop has 16:9 aspect ratio, which is wider than the 3:2 aspect ratio on the Pixelbook.
It’s unclear who will be making the 4K Chromebook, but the next installment of Google I/O could be where we see it. Of course, none of this is official data from Google so you can take it all with a pinch of salt.
