Fitbit is taking another shot at selling smartwatches, after failing with the Iconic some time back. The company has announced the Fitbit Versa that has a square dial with rounded corners and thinner bezels. The smartwatch sells at a starting price of $199 and is aimed at entry-level buyers, looking for a simple but functional smartwatch. Needless to say, it doesn’t give you LTE support and doesn’t have a big library of apps either.
The Versa also replaces the Fitbit Blaze, that was launched a couple of years ago. It doesn’t have built-in GPS support either, though the company claims four-day battery life on a single charge. It also has a heart-rate monitor and runs on the company’s own Fitbit OS, which takes after the erstwhile Pebble operating system. You will get a bunch of guided exercise options on the watch as well. The Fitbit Coach feature is available for $39.99 per year.
The Versa can store up to 300 songs, or you can choose to stream music from Deezer and Pandora. The company will also be introducing a female health tracking mode later this year, that can track periods and more. The watch will begin shipping from April onwards.
