Facebook Begins Anti-Revenge Porn Pilot In Australia

Facebook has a pilot program that'll expand upon its tools against revenge porn across its platforms, including Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram. The pilot is first rolling out in Australia and then it will reach the US, UK, and Canada.
Back in April, the company introduced new tools for reporting revenge porn and related images. The company's current system relies on people reporting images and then the Community Operations team reviewing those reports to prevent additional uploads of problematic photos.
The new system allows people to alert Facebook to their concerns even before images are shared on the platform. People can give an image they're worried will appear to their country's eSafety office and Facebook will use its existing tech to make sure it can never appear on the platform.
For the pilot program in Australia, Facebook is working with officials from the Office of the eSafety Commissioner.
