Didi Chuxing To Make Its Own EV Charging Network

China's largest ride-hailing service, Didi Chuxing, is going to build its own network of electric vehicle charging stations. That infrastructure will arise from a joint venture between Didi and NEVS, a Swedish holding company with a focus on electric vehicles.
NEVS, which acquired Saab's assets in 2012, received approval from the Chinese government to build EVs in the country in January.
Cheng Wei, Didi Chuxing's CEO, announced the project during an event from the United Nations and Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEICO).
Because of how many drivers are attached to its service, Didi Chuxing says it's operating the second largest fleet of electric cars in the world. It has 260,000 EVs on its platform right now and it wants to reach 1 million by 2020.
