Russia's Facebook Ads Targeted Swing States

Voters in vital swing states were specifically targeted by Russia-linked ads on Facebook, CNN is reporting. Certainly paid posts went after voters in Michigan and Wisconsin, two regions that helped Trump win the election. Facebook hasn't publicly discussed all of the targeting used by the ad buyers to influence the 2016 race.
Using Facebook's comprehensive and targeting capabilities, the ads were displayed in the most important regions of Michigan and Wisconsin. Trump only won by 10,704 votes in Michigan and 22,700 in Wisconsin. It'd be hard to say fake news and divisive political advertising on the site didn't in some way contribute to Trump's victory.
