FIFA and EA are bringing their partnership even further into the realm of esports. They've announced the first eWorld Cup, an esports replication of the World Cup, one of the largest sporting events. Qualifying tournaments are scheduled to run from November 2017 to July 2018.
Once the qualifying season is over, EA and FIFA will reduce the pool to the top 128 players (64 on PS4 and 64 on Xbox One). Those players will enter the FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs and they'll compete for a chance to be in the FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final.
Information about qualifications is available here.
