Dell is forming a new division focused on Internet of Things technologies and it's going to invest $1 billion in IoT research and development. The company announced the investment, which will be made over the coming three years, during an event in New York.
Its new IoT division is led by Roy O'Rarrell, former CTO of VMware. Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell says AI and IoT are creating an "interdependent ecosystem from the edge to the core to the cloud," and connected technologies are "fundamentally changing how we live, how organizations operate and the world works."
This division will utilize Dell's own hardware and software to offer new products and services.
