The Senate Intelligence Committee expects representatives from Facebook to testify in hearings pertaining to Russia's impact on the 2016 presidential election, reports Bloomberg. That testimony could provide us with more information about the way Russia-linked groups used Facebook to influence US politics.
As of now, Facebook says it's unsure how many Russian advertisers bought ads to impact the 2016 race. The social network has already admitted to selling $100,000 worth of ads to Russia-linked fake news pages. It eventually shut down the fake pages and accounts.
CNN reports the company has already given information to special counsel Robert Mueller to assist in figuring out who purchased the ads.
Chairman of the Committee, Richard Burr, thinks Facebook has "been less than forthcoming on potentially how they were used."
