Intel has successfully appealed an antitrust ruling in the EU, continuing a legal battle that's lasted more than 10 years. In 2009, the EU ruled Intel must pay a $1.27 billion fine for violations in 2007. In the case, Intel was accused of essentially paying off PC makers to avoid using chips from competitors.
Because an EU court agreed with Intel's appeal, the case is now headed back to a lower court and will be examined further. It could still be quite some time before the case is truly over.
