Facebook Fined For Improperly Using Personal Data In Spain

Spain's data protection agency, Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD), has fined Facebook $1.4 million. The social network was found to have collected personal data on multiple occasions without adequately informing users. It didn't fully tell users how their data would be used or how data collected by Facebook's widespread "Like" button would be used.
There were three instances AEPD found where Facebook didn't "sufficiently" inform users how their gender, religious, personal state, and browsing history info would be utilized.
Additionally, the agency found Facebook stored personal data for 17 months after account closures.
