After numerous delays, Essential has finally started shipping its first smartphone, the Essential PH-1. Since that happened, it was only a matter of time before someone decides to open it and reveal the inside of the phone as well as how hard would it be to repair it.
The popular repair site iFixit has got their hands on the smartphone and according to them, it is almost impossible to repair it.
The phone scored 1 out of 10 on iFixit's repairability scale, where 10 means easiest to repair. The reason for that is because it is almost impossible to open the phone. It has nearly invisible seams and copious adhesive, USB Type-C port is soldered, the battery is secured with stretch-release adhesive and more.
