Due to cybersecurity concerns, a guidance from the US Army has instructed all units to halt their use of drones from DJI, a Chinese company. This order was issued because of "an increased awareness of cyber vulnerabilities" in the products. An internal memo dated August 2 detailed the order.
Along with telling the units to no longer use DJI devices, the Army noted it had provided over 300 releases authorizing the use of drones from the company. As such, DJI products could have been pretty popular on missions.
Concerns about data collection by the products have existed for months.
