Latest Samsung Firmware Update Bricks Certain Smart TVs

Owners of Samsung's latest Smart TV were left with non-functional TV after the latest firmware update. According to The Guardian, a number of customers in the UK have had their TV bricked by a firmware update, making it useless. The only way to fix the TVs is to send back to Samsung for repair.
Most users are reporting that their TVs are stuck on a single channel, the remotes don't work, the volume can't be adjusted or they are just totally inoperable. The affected models are UE50MU6100K, UE49MU7070 and MU6409 and even Samsung has now issued a statement confirming the problems.
Samsung is aware of a small number of TVs in the UK (fewer than 200) affected by a firmware update to 2017 MU series TVs on 17 August. Once this issue was identified, the update was switched off and we are now working with each customer to resolve the issue. Any customers affected are encouraged to get in touch with Samsung directly by calling 0330 726 7864. We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused our customers.
