Instagram Stories, which effectively started as a Snapchat clone, has turned into a massively popular feature and is used more than Snapchat itself. A year after its launch, Stories has helped increase daily Instagram usage to 32 minutes per day for people under 25.
Stories alone has 250 million daily users, far above Snapchat's 155 million. At the same time as Instagram and Stories have performed well, Snapchat's growth rate has fallen from 17.2% per quarter to only 5%.
The Stories section of the app has turned out to be very effective at increasing engagement and time spent on Instagram.
